The stories were shared by teachers and students alike, who often hear every excuse from their students that seem too improbable to be believed. However, these stories have been shared by Reddit users, including students who had previously claimed their grandmother died to avoid a test. The top five of these excuses were "It's the last week of the semester," "I needed a vacation," "dog ate my homework", "I was late because there was a bunch of chickens in the middle of the road", and "School bus blew up."
