The San Francisco Giants have announced that their right-handed reliever, José Buttó, will undergo a procedure to remove a blood clot in his right arm. Buttó was placed on the 15-day injured list and does not yet have a return date. He was removed from a game against the San Diego Padres due to right arm fatigue and erratic command. Manager Tony Vitello believes this may have been an issue before he joined the team. Blade Tidwell from Triple-A Sacramento recorded the first save of his career in a 7-2 win over the Padres. First baseman Casey Schmitt was removed due to lower back tightness and Jerar Encarnacion replaced him in the starting lineup.
