Mets comeback falls short, fail to complete second straight walk-off vs. Pirates

Sean Manaea made his season debut in the series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but failed to complete his second consecutive walk-off against the Mets. He came out of the bullpen with two outs in a tie game in the seventh inning, leading to a 4-3 extra-inning loss. Left-hander Richard Lovelady was another left-hander who took the loss. Despite Manaea's role as a starter, he was not afforded more than 1 1/3 innings in the game. The Mets failed to secure a second consecutive win against the Pirates, with Juan Soto scoring an RBI double and Francisco Lindor being sent home on the double. Manaea has expressed his desire to play a more high-leverage relief role, despite this role.
