California startup EnerVenue has raised $300 million in a Series B extension led by Hong Kong billionaire Peter Lee Ka-kit, led by Full Vision Capital, to scale-up its non-lithium metal-hydrogen energy storage systems at a factory in Changzhou, China. The company has also appointed Henning Rath, a veteran technology executive who previously worked with German renewable energy equipment maker Enpal, as its new global CEO. The funding will be used to further research and development of EnerVENUE's core technologies, large-scale manufacturing, and expansion of global commercial reach. The investment comes at a time when the global energy storage market is under pressure to diversify beyond lithium-ion.
