Sharon Yiesla, plant knowledge specialist in the Plant Clinic at The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, has written the Plant Health Care Report, which aims to provide up-to-date information about plant care in the Chicago area. The report, which includes tracking units that measure temperature as days grow longer, can tell plants' caretakers when to watch out for pests and when to act against them. It also provides expert advice on how to identify and deal with these issues. Yieslas suggests that tackling plant problems at the wrong time in a plant's or insect's life cycle can be futile and environmentally harmful. The Report is available online during the growing season and sent out as an email newsletter.
