Jaron LaDale Starks Jr. is facing charges of murdering 36-year-old Jessica Lipscomb while she was mowing her neighbor's lawn nearly two years ago. The trial began Monday with opening statements from the Lake County Prosecuting Attorney Judith Massa, stating that Lpscomb had been drinking and criticizing Starks' lawn mowing skills. However, Starks allegedly fled the scene and was seen on security footage from LipsComb's boyfriend's security cameras. Starks's attorney, Jesse Harper, argued that murder requires intention or knowledge and that Starks had never seen Lips Comb before that day. The shooting took place at the 1900 block of Noble Street in Gary, Indiana, on September 4, 2024.
