After Dropping Warners Deal, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos Shifts Focus to Europe

Netflix Co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, has shifted focus from the company's failed Hollywood merger with Warner Bros. to its future plans for Europe. In a wide-ranging interview with Politico in Brussels, Saranidos discussed new efforts by the EU to regulate the media industry, but dismissed the controversy surrounding the failed Warner Bros takeover. He also dismissed President Trump's call for Netflix to fire board member Susan Rice as a mere social media post. Sarandandos suggested incentives for production through tax breaks and other support like those used in Spain and the UK, while EU lawmakers are set to reopen discussion of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive, which enforces a 30 percent European content quota for streaming on-demand services like Netflix.
