Spanish Cinema Booming Thanks to Robust Incentives, Spectacular Natural Locations, Thriving Creative Ecosystem

Spanish cinema is booming due to strong national and regional support, a thriving creative ecosystem, and diverse natural, cultural and urban landscapes. Seven films showcased at the Goya Goes To – New Spanish Films showcase in New York City are included in the showcase, organised by Spain’s Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, its ICAA film agency and export and investment board ICEX. The films include Oliver Laxe's Moroccan desert odyssey “Sirāt” which won in the craft categories and Alberto Vásquez's “Decorado,’�s best animated film, and Albert Serra's ‘Afternoons of Solitude’ which won the documentary feature prize. The showcase also includes Manuel Gomez Pereira's post-Civil War tragicomedy “The Dinner” and Aitor Arregi and Jose Mari Goenaga’S “Maspalomas”.
