A heart-shaped forest on Kansas City airport property is being restored after 30 years of neglect. The 8-acre forest was hand-planted by hundreds of volunteers in 1990 and has since grown to 50 feet. The Foundation for Regeneration aims to raise $100,000 to restore the forest and make it visible from the sky again. The vision includes a small visitor plaza, information about the project, a donor wall, and a trail around the forest to enhance its shape. The goal is to make the Heart of America visible by June.
