The popular tourist destination in Albufeira, Portugal, has introduced a bikini ban in which tourists or anyone else going around in "a state of partial nudity" can be fined €1,500 for those wearing swimwear outside beach and pool areas and € 1,800 for those caught fully naked. The changes were introduced last year following a viral video showing British men dancing naked in a bar on the city's party strip caused local outcry. The ban will come into effect for the second summer season, which brings over five million tourists to Albufeeira, a town with a permanent population of 44,000 people. While the majority of travelers come from European countries and the United Kingdom, Albuféira is becoming increasingly popular with Americans. The decision to introduce the ban could be extended to more destinations in Europe, with some suggesting it could be expanded to other popular destinations.
