Los Angeles Kings are on the verge of a first-round exit from the Western Conference quarterfinals, marking their fifth consecutive postseason exit. The Kings lost 4-2 to the Colorado Avalanche in Game 3 of the series, leaving the Avs with a 3-0 series lead and the chance to sweep the series in Sunday's Game 4 in Los Angeles. Despite the loss, Kings coach D.J. Smith vowed his team would be prepared and ready to play, despite the loss. The Avs had been leading the NHL with 3.63 goals per game in the regular season, but the Kings struggled with scoring only two goals in each game. Smith acknowledged the need to keep going, despite concerns about Anze Kopitar's impending retirement.
