Microsoft has shared early Xbox Project Helix specs at the Game Developers Conference, which are part of a partnership with AMD, as part of its efforts to win the next-gen console war before it even begins. The specs, which lack specifics, promise "next-generation" AI upscaling and an "order of magnitude leap in ray tracing performance" with Project Heliz, are powered by a custom AMD SoC and co-designed for the next generation of DirectX and FSR. The new system also promises to use machine learning for texture compression, which could potentially reduce game install sizes and reduce the amount of RAM games need to run efficiently. The developer, Roland, also confirmed that Projecthelix dev kits will be released to developers in 2027.
