Democratic state lawmakers across the U.S. are participating in a private Signal group chat called "Frontier AI Legislators" to coordinate AI policy and share insights about industry pressure. The group, which includes nine members from New York, Massachusetts, Illinois, Colorado, Vermont, California and Rhode Island, aims to help shape national standards for AI as Congress and the White House try to develop their own plans. The chat allows lawmakers to compare what they're hearing from industry lobbyists to their own ones. At least two members of the group are running for national office.
