MND Local: The Guadalajara International Film Festival returns, and Zapopan struggles to protect green spaces

The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) is returning to its 41st edition, featuring top foreign films. The festival, which also includes 28 films from Chile, is one of Latin America's largest and longest-running events. It showcases both Mexican and Ibero-American cinema, with films from Mexico, Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Most films are shown in Spanish, with a few being screened in English, Portuguese or German. However, a new tree census suggests that Zapopan is under increasing pressure to protect its dwindling tree canopy. The city of Guadadala, which covers just 6% of the total land area, has identified priority areas for tree planting by 2025.
