Former England captain Courtney Lawes has announced his retirement from international rugby after Sale Sharks agreed to sign him for the 2026-27 season. The 37-year-old, who won 105 caps for England during a 14-year international career, will join Sale on a one-year contract after two seasons in France with Brive. Lawes hopes his strong form in the Premiership could earn him another call-up under England coach Steve Borthwick. He also mentioned that Sale were one of only a few clubs he might consider returning to the Premiership.
