Businesses react to South Carrollton main break and boil water advisory

Several New Orleans restaurants and cafes opened for business without knowing a boil water advisory was in effect, according to business owners and employees. The city's Nola-Ready system initially alerted subscribers of a public safety incident at 3 a.m. However, the advisory was not officially notified until nearly 7 a., nearly four hours later. Business owners described the early alert as unclear and expressed a desire for better communication from city officials. They are now keeping standard protocols in place when an advisory is issued.
