Chip buyers in Europe are paying more and tapping backup stores as Iran war hits air freight

European companies that import semiconductors from Asia are paying more due to disruption from the Iran war. Global air freight capacity is down around 9% compared to pre-war levels. This has led to rising costs for European companies importing chips and delays in importing capacity. However, other manufacturers are importing fewer chips from the region due to capacity constraints.
