Christin Austin, a 35-year-old woman from Kansas City, is facing felony charges for allegedly swinging trauma shears at a paramedic's neck during an ambulance transport. The incident occurred just before 11:50 a.m. on Sunday near Highway 69 and Palmer Dr. and occurred during the transport of a combative patient. Austin then exited the ambulance while still armed with the shears, and continued swinging the weapon when police arrived. She was disarmed and taken into custody, taken to Liberty Hospital for a medical evaluation and placed on a 24-hour hold. No hearing date has been set yet for Austin.
