Topeka thrift store giving away free prom dresses to students

The Giving Tree in Topeka, Kansas, has begun its third annual prom dress giveaway, allowing high school students to take home a free dress with a valid student ID. The store has collected roughly 400 dresses and sent about 40 home with students on the first day. Co-manager Tasha Morrissey said the response highlights the high cost of expensive prom dresses and the demand for affordable options. The event will continue through March 20.
