Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has accused Democrats of giving Republicans a significant political opportunity amid heightened debates over national security, the threat from Iran, and funding disputes tied to the Department of Homeland Security. Gingrich argued that the Democrats’ political strategy has allowed Republicans to sharpen their message and connect national security concerns directly to voters. He also warned that the Iranian dictatorship has been openly hostile towards the United States since 1979. The Senate has been deadlocked over funding for the DHS, which includes the TSA, which runs airport security.
