Des Moines is opening its recently vacated City Hall for event rentals as a temporary solution. The City Council has approved a rental agreement allowing limited use of the building for community-focused events, starting with the Des Moines Metro Opera's June 6 gala. This move signals a stopgap strategy for the future of the site, as it remains without a permanent tenant. The minimum base rental fee of $5,000 will be required for any event to exceed this.
