Feeding San Diego, California, has stepped in to support Transportation Security Administration agents during the partial government shutdown, where many workers are going without pay. The disruption comes after the nation's longest shutdown last fall, leaving federal employees facing financial strain. The nonprofit has seen a sharp increase in demand for food assistance across San Diego County within a year, with CEO Bob Kamensky stating that it is now feeding over 220,000 households a month. The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE 1260) is also supporting members during the shutdown, providing over $5,000 in gas cards and Costco food cards to their membership and establishing food pantries for the officers.
