Louise Carmen, a Parisian store where young women can personalize and purchase leather notebooks, which start at 122.55 euros each, or roughly $143.14 per notebook, can cost up to 609.55 after accounting for customizations such as personal engravings, paper styles, and attached charms. The company's founder, Nathalie Valmary, launched the company with her husband in 2016 and is now responsible for 60% of the brand's online orders. The notebooks have become a status symbol for primarily American women in their mid 20s to early 30s. Some people view journaling as a mental wellness strategy, providing similar benefits to meditation or mindfulness.
