Maria Peterson won the Democratic nomination in the 52nd Illinois State House District after knocking on 8,000 doors in an effort to win. She will face state Rep. Martin McLaughlin, R-Barrington Hills, in a rematch of their 2024 contest. Peterson lost to McLaughlin two years before, losing to then state Senate Minority Leader Dan McConchie by 385 votes.
