Kirk Bangstad, owner of Minocqua Brewing Company and founder of the affiliated Minocquem Brewing Company Super PAC, has sparked outrage after he posted online that he was disappointed that President Donald Trump survived a recent attempt on his life. The post was followed by outrage over the failed White House Correspondents’ Dinner attempt, which resulted in the evacuation of President Trump. Bangstad’s brewery has also marketed merchandise tied to the idea of Trump's death, including shirts with phrases like “Is he dead yet?” and references to a “free beer day” if the president was assassinated. His Super PAC has raised millions of dollars for liberal causes and Democratic candidates, while also launching lawsuits against Republican policies and figures. Despite these legal disputes, Bangstad has been found liable in a separate civil defamation case for $750,000, which was settled for $580,000. His political organization operates in a similar manner, operating under looser rules than traditional political campaigns and has spent large sums on unexplained expenses.
