Harrison Bader, a Gold Glove-winning center fielder for the San Francisco Giants, has been signed a two-year, $20.5 million deal with the team this winter. The Giants' outfielders ranked among the worst in the majors last season, according to Outs Above Average or Defensive Runs Saved. Bader's presence in center will allow for more aggressive play and more opportunities for corner outfielders. Shane Robinson, who was promoted from Triple-A staff to serve as manager Tony Vitello’s first base coach and outfield coordinator, believes the team is in a better position this year. The team's outfield positioning was tied for the fourth-least effective in the major league by Defensive RunsSaved.
