UK grocery inflation has risen to 4.3% in the four weeks leading up to February 22, according to market researcher Worldpanel. This increase is a significant blow to consumers after an easing of the pace in January. Prices are rising fastest in markets such as fresh unprocessed meat, skin care, and chocolate confectionery, while falling fastest in chilled butter and spreads, household paper and sugar confectory. Meanwhile, Asda continued to struggle, its sales fell by 2.6%, giving it a market share of 11.5%, down 80% on the previous year.
