Police were called to an apartment complex around 12:09 a.m. Sunday for a report of a man threatening to harm himself, but when they arrived, they could not locate the man. They saw him approaching them with a knife and he refused to drop it, leading to officers shooting him. The victim, 25-year-old Alexander Lamorie, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers attempted life-saving measures. The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating the circumstances of the fatal police-involved shooting. The involved officers have been identified as HCPD Officer Joel Rodriguez, a two-year veteran, Officer Cody Bostic, and PFC Joseph Riebau. Lamorie was found outside Patuxent Commons, a $44 million public private partnership led by the Autism Society of Maryland. The IID will generally release body-worn camera footage within 20 business days of an incident within that period.
