Former Sen. Derek Kitchen drops Utah congressional bid

Former state Sen. Derek Kitchen has decided not to run for the newly-drawn 1st Congressional District in Utah, stating that he cares for Utah's future and those of its citizens. The decision was made on the last day of the congressional candidate filing period. As of Friday afternoon, seven Democrats, including state Sens. Nate Blouin and Kathleen Riebe, and Salt Lake City Council Member Eva Lopez Chavez have already announced their candidacy for the seat.
