‘Collateral damage’: Exiled Lebanese tells 'Post' refugees back Israel’s fight against Hezbollah

Lebanian refugees have expressed their support for Israel's efforts to defeat Hezbollah, but fear that Israel may withdraw before freeing them of the Iranian proxy. Maryam Younnes, a descendant of Southern Lebanon Army (SLA), fled her home in Dibil when she was five years old, unable to legally see or speak to her grandmother and cousins again. Her father, Elias, was a commander in the SLA and defended Israel's sovereignty against the Palestinian Liberation Organization. He fought for his country's stability until 2000, when Israel withdrew and Hezbollah labeled him a "traitor". Maryam, an Israeli citizen, completed her National Service and is now starting a business that helps Arab brands enter the Israeli market. Many are hesitant to support efforts to rid Lebanon of Hezbollah, especially as many are afraid of the situation.
