Argentina's President, Javier Milei, has successfully implemented fiscal shock therapy and is leading to a major economic resurgence, following three years of austerity. The central question is whether radical fiscal reform can consolidate political legitimacy and endure. Milei's focus is policy consistency, linking fiscal equilibrium to lower country risk, lower dollar-denominated interest rates, capital accumulation, productivity gains, and higher real wages and lower poverty. He has prioritized child nutrition and education, while highlighting that seven out of ten children had fallen into poverty under previous administrations. The transition from stabilization to growth reform could define Argentina’s trajectory for the next decade. If successful, Milei may enter the electoral cycle as an outsider seeking his mandate through 2031.
