God and Bitcoin: Why some Christians are going all in on cryptocurrency

Some Christians are investing in cryptocurrency, despite the recent collapse of the market. Todd and Janet Gatewood, the owners of their Nashville-based radio show "God, Freedom and Bitcoin," see this as a blessing. They are among a diverse group of Christian financial influencers, entrepreneurs, and even pastors working to pitch the faithful on digital currencies. Some believe this could be a way to build wealth and devote more time to worship. However, some fear this enthusiasm could lead to financial abuse. In Colorado, prosecutors allege investors lost more than $3 million after a pastor sold them a cryptocurrency he created and improperly used at least $1.3 million of their funds. There are also signs of growing interest in digital currencies among Christian circles, with at least one nonprofit church dedicated to educating Christians and about the size of the digital asset conference.
