Man indicted in fatal stabbing of unhoused man, arrest report details confrontation

A Clark County grand jury has indicted Justin Christopher Ringer, 22, for the fatal stabbing of Daniel Ohayon, 29, near Buffalo Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard in February. The arrest report details the events leading up to the stabbing, which occurred when a woman and her boyfriend encountered OhayON sleeping on the ground behind a power box near a sidewalk. Ringer allegedly confronted the victim and when he missed a rock thrown at him, he stabbed him multiple times. He is set to make his initial arraignment in District Court on Thursday. Advocates for homeless people have warned that such incidents can escalate quickly when someone is disturbed. Sheriff Kevin McMahill noted a 44 percent increase in the number of unhoused people dying in the Las Vegas Valley last year.
