The new Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has reportedly bought two high-cost apartments in London near the Israeli embassy for £35 million. The real estate products were purchased with the help of Iranian banker Ali Ansari, who was sanctioned by the British government in 2025 for allegedly financing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). His assets were frozen and he was banned from traveling to the UK. The discovery of these properties came just after Khamenei was elected as Iran's supreme leader. The move violates the core tenets of the Islamic Republic, with experts suggesting it could transform the regime into a dictatorship.
