McHenry Parks and Recreation is considering rethinking its two ice rinks at Fox Ridge Park due to ongoing vandalism by vandals. The rinks have been set up for around 15 years and have been closed due to warmer winter temperatures. The city has also begun to regrade the area at Miller Point Park, where a portable ice rink is set up during the winter season. The vandalism has caused boards to fall apart and foam pads to be removed, and signs for the rinks were placed on the ice. The potential for sustained, usable ice without a chiller system may no longer be feasible, according to Parks and Recreational Director Bill Hobson.
