Nvidia Rubin GPU Faces Possible Delay As HBM4 Supply Falls Short, While Google TPU Demand Surges In Race For TSMC Capacity: Report - NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA)
Published on March 16, 2026.
Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) is facing a potential delay in its successor, the Rubin GPU platform, due to insufficient HBM4 supply and redesigning certain base-die components, which could delay shipments by roughly a quarter. As a result, Nvidia is reportedly reducing initial Rubin wafer production while increasing output of its current Blackwell GPUs. Meanwhile, cloud service providers are reportedly increasing efforts to develop their own AI chips to reduce reliance on Nvidia. Industry insiders suggest that Google's growing chip demand could make it one of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s largest customers in the coming years. To support surging AI demand, TSMC is expanding its advanced manufacturing capacity, including multiple new 2-nanometer fabrication plants set to begin mass production.
