High winds and high winds are expected to increase across New Mexico, with gusts of up to 60-65 mph expected near the central mountains. Much of eastern New Mexico is expected to have a critical fire risk, the highest category. The strongest afternoon winds could hit along and east of the peninsula, potentially causing significant damage to trees and power lines.
