Eli Lilly's new weight-loss pill, orforglipron, has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as part of a new program aimed at reducing drug approval times. The drug, named Foundayo, is a GLP-1 drug that mimicks a natural hormone that controls appetite and feelings of fullness. It is expected to begin shipping on Monday and costs between $25 per month with a Lilly discount card and $149 to $349 per month depending on the dose. In a clinical trial, participants lost 11.2% of their body weight over 16 months, compared to 2.1% in patients who received a placebo. The FDA approved the drug in 50 days.
