A significant shift in weather is set to occur in Northern Virginia, with temperatures expected to drop up to 50 degrees and potentially a snow flurry possible. This comes after days of record-breaking temperatures in the D.C. region, reaching levels more typical of summer than early spring. While high temperatures are expected to remain in the 80s through Saturday, a wedge of cool air is expected to move into the region on Sunday. Morning showers are also possible, but this should lead to drier conditions during the afternoon. Another system will pass overhead Sunday night, bringing a secondary surge of colder air from the northwest as it departs. A high-pressure system expected to approach Northern Virginia Monday night, potentially leading to frost or freeze concerns.
