Suspect In Sam Altman Molotov Cocktail Attack Identified, Charged With Attempted Murder

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Daniel Alejandro Moreno-Gama from Texas, has been charged with attempted murder, arson, and several other charges. The San Francisco Police Department was called to Sam Altman's home around 4:12 am and then to OpenAI's headquarters around 5 am. The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards and is being held without bail in San Francisco County Jail. The incidents occurred following a critical profile of Altman in The New Yorker, which detailed allegations from colleagues and internal push by OpenAI board members to remove him as CEO in 2025.
