Massive Alaska megatsunami was second largest ever recorded

A massive'megatsunami' was created when part of an Alaskan mountain collapsed into the sea, making it the second largest ever recorded. The explosion of 64 million cubic metres of rock, the equivalent of 24 Great Pyramids, created a wave almost 500 metres tall. Only the time the incident occurred prevented tourist cruise ships from being caught up in the water. The incident is seen as a reminder of the risks posed by melting glaciers.
