Immigration could cost Republicans the midterms — here’s what they should do

The Republican Party may benefit from the Trump administration's aggressive immigration enforcement tactics in the upcoming midterms due to these policies. However, many people are unhappy with the aggressive methods used by Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to implement these policies, which have led to a decrease in Republican support. The administration should establish a program for accepting complaints of excessive violence and holding ICE officers accountable for their use of force. This could help the Republican Party demonstrate that they are just enforcing the law, not the Democrats claim they are. Republicans should also consider renewing the DACA program, which would have provided lawful status for undocumented aliens in the program. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 could also allow long-term residents with no criminal convictions to enter the country based on their status.
