Independent Minnesota hopeful Marisa Simonetti has been convicted of gross misdemeanor harassment, misdemeanor domestic assault and disorderly conduct for her bizarre act of tossing a live tarantula into a home she rented out on Airbnb. Simonetti, inspired by the 1990 McCaulay Culkin classic "Home Alone," said she was so scared of escalating tensions with her renter, Jacklyn Vasquez, that she tossed the creepy arachnid down the stairs of the basement unit she was renting out in 2024. The incident was caught on videotape and caught on camera. Vasquez called 911 several times in 2024 when Simonetti began banging pots and pans together while Vasquez was studying for the bar exam and then shut off the home’s Internet service.
