Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, is set to discuss the next steps in stalled peace negotiations with the U.S. He is expected to discuss a potential second round of negotiations with Pakistani mediators. The first round of peace talks, held nearly two weeks ago in Islamabad, ended without a deal. The tensions between the two countries have exacerbated by threats from President Donald Trump that Iran's "whole civilization will die" unless a deal is reached. Despite this, the president extended the ceasefire shortly before it was set to expire.
