These cities have the highest pay, lowest cost of living for 2026: study

A study by Niche.com has identified the highest pay and lowest cost of living in the U.S. based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The top city in the country was Laredo, Texas. The study ranks larger cities with at least 250,000 residents using affordability and median household income as equal weights. Other notable cities in the top 25 were Fort Wayne, Toledo, Ohio, El Paso, Texas, and Wichita, Kansas. Despite the high salaries and cost of moving, the study found that Americans are increasingly looking for affordable neighborhoods with diverse career opportunities and a strong sense of community.
