A man who borrowed a coat from his mother-in-law's closet 15 years ago feels guilty about stealing his in-law’s coat, which he has worn since then and is often complimented by others. He feels guilty for not having asked if he can keep it, but is embarrassed to bring it up and fears he might want it returned if he mentions it. The author suggests that if the company still produces the coat, purchasing it with a gift receipt and offering it to him next time you see him, and offering an explanation of the turmoil.
