71-Year-Old Runner with Parkinson's Takes on New Challenge: 100 Marathons in 100 Days

Dr. Larry Grogin, who has Parkinson's disease, plans to run 100 marathons in 100 days to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson's research. His route will start in New Jersey and ends in Los Angeles. Grogin has previously run 100 miles in a day for Cancer Cares and completed a 1,200-mile run for Oasis, a shelter for women and children in Paterson, New Jersey. He plans to go 2,600 miles across the U.S. and only take short breaks to eat and sleep. The disease, defined by the Mayo Clinic as "a movement disorder of the nervous system that worsens over time"
