Legendary piano player Herbie Hancock co-founded UNESCO International Jazz Day with the All-Star Global Concert at Lyric Opera House in Chicago. The concert, which will be streamed to millions, will feature Hancock and another jazz icon, along with over 40 other artists. The event is part of a month of jazz programming in Chicago, which is a first-time host for the global celebration. Hancock plans to discuss film scoring at a sold-out event at the Chicago Cultural Center and attend a Hancock family reunion in the city during his downtime. He also plans to lead a tribute to Miles Davis at the Hollywood Bowl in honor of his mentor's 100th birthday.
