Microsoft has released an emergency update for Windows 11, which is intended to resolve issues caused by the optional Windows update KB5079391 from late March. The update, initially released for Windows 10 24H2 and 25H2, introduced several changes, including updates to Smart App Control (SAC). However, within hours of its delivery, users reported error messages with an error code 0x80073712. Microsoft halted the rollout of the update and issued an out-of-band update. The emergency update includes all the improvements and features introduced in the March 26, 2026 non-security preview update, along with a fix for an installation issue that affected some devices.
