A Rochester-made tactical radio designed, developed and manufactured in L3Harris is set to fly aboard NASA's Artemis II mission, marking a significant milestone for NASA and represents years of engineering, testing and hometown pride. The radio was originally designed as a military tactical radio used by warfighters across the globe and underwent extensive testing to ensure it was safe and dependable for such a high-stakes mission. L3H has over 100 elements involved in the mission, including components tied to the rocket engines and crew audio systems.
